ENT Specialist

Dr. Marcus W. Moody joined Hoover ENT as a full-time associate in 2013. Previously, Dr. Moody served as Associate Professor of Otolaryngology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of Virginia and attended medical school at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, TN.

He completed his surgical internship and ENT residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and was a Fellow in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Rousso Facial Plastic Surgery in Birmingham, AL. He joined the faculty at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2007 where he received tenure as well as many awards for excellence in teaching. Dr. Moody is a member of many professional organizations and serves as an officer or committee member in these societies. He has authored or co-authored many publications in textbooks and peer-reviewed journals and is currently on the editorial board of the ENT Journal. He has been an invited lecturer both nationally and internationally. Dr. Moody has also been very active in community service and medical mission trips. Since graduating medical school he has served as part of multiple surgical medical mission trips to developing areas such as Honduras, Nepal, Moldova, China, and Kenya.

Maison Larmore earned her Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Mississippi and went on to receive her Doctor of Audiology from the University of Southern Mississippi. Driven by compassion and a deep desire to make a positive impact, Dr. Larmore approaches each patient with personalized care, respect, and a listening ear.

She believes that hearing is important to connecting with the world, and she’s passionate about helping others navigate their journey to better hearing with confidence and support. Dr. Maison Larmore is originally from Gulfport, Mississippi, and completed her residency in 2025 at Hoover Hearing Clinic. Growing up on the Gulf Coast, she developed a deep appreciation for the outdoors and enjoys spending her free time outside with her friends and family.

Doctor of Audiology

Dr. Katie May is a dedicated audiologist passionate about helping patients overcome hearing disorders. She earned her Doctor of Audiology from The University of Southern Mississippi, building on her Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Mississippi. Dr. May’s commitment to improving lives drives her to provide compassionate and expert care to each patient.

A native of Tupelo, Mississippi, Dr. May moved to Birmingham in 2023 to complete a residency at Hoover Hearing Clinic. She joined our team in May 2024, bringing her expertise and dedication to our patients.

In her free time, Dr. May enjoys exploring new destinations and spending quality time with loved ones at the beach.

Office Administrator

John Wright obtained his master’s degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of South Alabama in 1988. He pursued an internship at the UAB Sparks Clinic from 1988 to 1989, focusing on the care and management of special needs children. He joined the staff of Riverchase ENT in 1990 before moving with Dr. Boyd and Dr. Wittich to Hoover ENT.

Mr. Wright returned to Sparks Clinic in 1993 as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Communication Disorders. During his tenure at Sparks, he supervised and trained a regular rotation of audiology graduates, while pursuing his passion for the intervention of special needs children, with an emphasis on the hearing impaired. In 2000, John moved to Children’s Hospital of Alabama in the Hearing and Speech Clinic, where he initially served as the Audiology Coordinator for the hospital. In 2002 he helped establish and supervise Children’s HEAR Center, a clinic at Children’s Hospital specializing in the management of hearing-impaired children, offering services from amplification to cochlear implants and auditory-verbal therapy. In 2007 John moved into the private sector. John returned to Hoover ENT in 2014 on a part-time basis, where he initially utilized his experience in management to serve as administrator for the Hoover Hearing Clinic. In 2018 he moved into the role of office administrator for Hoover ENT, where he enjoys managing the needs of the employees and patients of Hoover ENT and directing future endeavors to grow the practice. In addition, he still sees patients on a periodic basis for hearing evaluations.
